Cowboy beans with ground beef

I think I've posted this recipe here before, but saw it recently and thought I'd post it again just in case.  I don't really care for Cowboy beans but it's a personal thing.  Most people absolutely love them.  You could make changes to the recipe but then it wouldn't really be the original and you'd have to either try to remember what changes you made or write everything down as you go (onto a recipe card).  I still do things the old-fashioned way, since I don't use one of those damned finger-sliding phones.  Those things are getting people into trouble all the time and I want no part of it.

I do a similar recipe but we just call them baked beans.  And no, I don't start with those crummy canned baked beans either.  YUK!

I like making baked beans in a regular oven - thus the "baked" part.  If you make them in a slow cooker, they don't have nearly the same flavor.  But, that's just me!
