Do dragonflies help with mosquito population control?

You bet they do, although where I live there are very few mosquitos because they do not like pine trees and we have tons of them all over the city, as well as starting on the west end of town all the way into the states of Wyoming and Montana.  We get a few, but not enough to install one of those outdoor ponds.  I think those things are a bad idea for many reasons, not the least of which is they get stinky and they attract snakes, lots of OTHER bugs, and altogether too dang many birds.  The birds poop in them and you're forever cleaning them out and refilling with fresh water, which is, to me, a waste of water.

But nevertheless, here's the information.

Now, there is also some information in there which tells you which stuff to PLANT to also help attract dragonflies.  For me, that would be a much better option, and I already have two of those growing in my yard!!  Win, win!
