For the past 2 months or more, we here in the middle of the USA (I am in the Northern area of the mid-USA) have been choking from the smoke coming from the west coasts fires. Because California (mainly) failed to properly manage their forestry stuff for the past 35 years or more, now WE are the ones having to pay for that disgusting smell and the ensuing "dust and grit" all over everything left outdoors.
The people who live in California have no clue what we're having to deal with because, of course, the smoke isn't STAYING out there, it's coming here and other places east of California, Washington and Oregon. Go figure.
We've had some high temperatures for the past 3 weeks, which makes it all the worse. Even when we run our A/C the smell permeates into the house. Freshly laundered clothing reeks of smoke; when I put the dog outside to do his thing, he comes back stinking of smoke. If anyone around here has lung problems and/or breathing problems it is likely coming from the constant smoke in the air. It's just awful. I thought the news people said these fires were basically under control over a month ago?? Not so, apparently.
If Gavin Newsom would use his brain as much as he uses his mouth to spout nonsense, he'd have answers for this problem. But since he has a brain the size of a pea, I guess we can't look for HIM to be solving any of his state's problems anytime soon, and that unfortunately affects the rest of us.
