Since I'm a LITTTTTTLE bit German (but mostly Swedish) and my DH is entirely German/Russian heritage, I love to cook German foods, although some of my favorite German dishes require sauerkraut and he hates the stuff.  What the hell kind of German is he that he hates sauerkraut??!!  I was so disappointed when I learned that about him, some 35 years ago.  We dated for 2 years before we got married, see.  But the lovebug had already taken a bite of both of us, so what could I do>??!! 

You won't find these foods, at least not typically, in restaurants unless it's specifically a German restaurant (do they even have those??).
