The big "take away" from the "debate??" (if you can call it that)

Yes, the debates were a disaster of complete nothingness.  Nothing of substance was ever discussed.  Not in the whole 90 minutes of trading barbs and pointing fingers.  No points were ever made by either of them.

This is a good overview of it by Ron Paul, but this was the take-away I feel was most important:
