I have no idea why this is called a casserole.  To me a casserole is a one-dish meal.  This is more like a side-dish, if you ask me, but it sounds kinda good.  I never used canned stuff as a rule, but was able to find organic canned corn, but no organic creamed corn so I bought an extra can of regular corn and made my own creamed corn.  I added a few of my own spices because it sounded pretty bland.  Turned out good, but definitely not a casserole.
