I bought . . .

. . . a six-pack of Hamm's beer today just because it's what my Dad and his friends used to drink back in the day.  Haven't tasted it yet so not sure what it's like now, but I remember those cans like it was yesterday!!  Weird what the mind will keep and what it will throw away - - especially after a stroke.  WHY would I remember the can??  It doesn't make sense but there it is. !!

The one popular in the mid to late 50's and early 60's was the one with the gold can with the black bottom (about the 5th can over on the photo, I think).

Re: I bought . . .

I have discovered Hamm's doesn't have a whole lot of inspiring flavor these days.  I prefer the Lagers more than anything else.  I drank one from a local brewery called Log Cabin and it was great, but I prefer the one with a slightly cinnamony/nutmeggy taste called Lion's Paw Lager made by Fernson Brewing Company, Sioux Falls, SD.

I still prefer tap lagers but this one is pretty decent, you should give it a try.  If it's not available in your area, you really should ask your favorite local liquor store to order it in.

South Dakota also produces some of the finest wines in the country in a very small town about 35 miles from where I live.  The people who run the place are from my hometown 300 miles away!  They have called the place Prairie Berry Winery and they have chosen to use many local famous outlaws and other critters names for their stuff.  It's funny as hell !!  There's Calamity Jane, Gold Digger, RedAss Rhubarb and many more with interesting names.  Do a websearch and you can't miss it.  Located in Hill City, SD where there is also the 1880 Train rides *spendy but fun.  But please DON'T come to SD for your vacation.  We have enough people already clogging up the KOA Campgrounds and many of the Sturgis bikers are still here, too.  Try finding those brands (the beer and the wine) in your own area or ORDER it.  That's my advice.
