Obviously they do not understand how carbon works.  Without it, there would be no trees, no breatheing going on at all !!  Not by man or animal or the actual trees which produce the carbon needed by the rest of life!

They need to borrow a chemistry or biology book from their kids (unless the WOKE schools their kids attend don't teach that kind of thing anymore.  Biology was my favorite subject and it was also my best subject.  Imagine that!
