Old-fashioned baked beans the way Mom made them

At least this is how MY Mom made them, and they were always a hit at every potlock and school picnic, church picnic, Shriner's Hall get-togethers for the town (there were only 3,500 of us at last count when I still lived there), so these are a hit with absolutedly NO changes.

My Mom used the Van Kamp's pork and beans in the can and she always fished out the chunks of fat pork, I guess she didn't like that part.  She said it was the texture of those chunks that made her gag!!


Give 'em a try, you won't be sorry, they are delicious.  You can use less brown sugar (use the DARK brown sugar, if possible) but it does need some of that sweetness.  The molasses adds a lot, too.

This is always a hit at our 4th of July picnics.  ALWAYS.
