I have made an applesauce cake before, however I do not make layer cakes. I don't have the right pans anymore (kids, over the years, have used them all to make mudpies) and I just never bought more pans. I think it's more work than it's worth to make layers than to just dump the batter into a 9 x 13 pan and be done with it. I also LOVE to make angel food cakes and they are my oldest granddaughters favorite all-time cake with just some thin powdered sugar frosting drizzled down the sides and slathered on the top. I like it that way, too. I rarely decorate them (why do that?) the decorations come off before you can eat it anyway. It's just wasted money, IMPHO!
This is delicious though, I must say, even in a 9 x 13 pan!!
