Most of the wildflowers I have in my yard I planted specifically because they are perennials. These work well for older gardners like myself because we do not have to tend them very much after the first year or two, they pretty much take care of themselves. Ditto for the wild grasses. You can look up various species of both to see what will suit the "light factor" in your yard. My backyard is almost entirely shady, so I must be careful what I choose. This has not been a good year for the poor things because we've had sooooooooooooooo much rain. They didn't get a good start in the spring so now they're pretty spindly and the colors aren't as nice as usual.
