I like to plant my favorite garden veggies using the 3 sisters method.  I'll post a link below about various ways you can do this, but I just plant corn and let it get about 1/4 to 1/2 mature and then I plant a crawling (vining) plant of some sort, like peas or small squash or something, and then underneath all of that I plant the heavier crops like large buttercup squash or even a circle of carrots or something.
