McCONnell doesn't care about this.  He's too bipartisan.  In fact, he often seems to be more a leftist than anything.  He's beyond bipartisan.  I just hope he doesn't turn out to be a traitor because he also leans that way, occasionally.  Nearly tips over.  He needs to pick a party, as far as I'm concerned and not straddle the center. 

He's also old, and needs to be setting an example for whomever might take over his position some day soon.  He shouldn't be preaching and "teaching" at the same time, it just doesn't work well for the public.  We always come out the losers when things like that happen.  He's been somewhat a huge disappointment lately and that's as nicely as I can say it.
