This recipe takes a while to make, just like any other homemade bread recipe.  I have an Amish recipe that is almost exactly the same and I've been using it for over 20 years, after I first discovered it in an Amish recipe book I purchased way back when . . .

Be prepared to use up most of a whole day, so plan to do laundry in between rising times, or something!
