About that Black Hills Gold

I think everyone in America owns a piece of jewelry made from Black Hills Gold.  It's sold in various places around these hills, and all over the country in tourist shops, etc.

If you're a history buff at all, you'll like this article.  My DH and I often go to Rockerville AND Rochford (both mentioned in the article) to eat because they have some of the best food you can find in the hills area.  When we want to "play tourist" we head for Keystone (not far from Mt. Rushmore) or to Hill City in the other direction (also not far from Mt. Rushmore).  The monument is lit up at night now and it's a sight to behold when the sun goes down.

If you've never been here as a visitor, you should come.  We are RICH with all kinds of history, but many people don't have the first idea about that.  They think this is just a flat place to drive through on their way to somewhere else!  Boy, are they wrong.  https://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/grin.png

Women of the Plains.  They fought for, and won, the vote 100 years ago.  But we still aren't considered important in some regards, go figure.  https://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/cry.png

Re: About that Black Hills Gold

And then there's Wyoming.  A truly beautiful state.  I wish this article had gone into more depth about the Yellowstone Park area, with the animals galore and the geysers, lodges, etc. Another great place for vacationers.

However, Wyoming, Montana, SD and ND all wish people would just visit, spend some money, spend some time - - and then LEAVE!  We are not looking for any permanent residents.  We have just enough people already.
