After you carve your pumpkin with either a scary or happy face for the celebration, and before you put the tealight candle inside to light him up, add a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger - - - whatever suits your fancy - - - to the inside of the "lid" you carved out where the stem of the pumpkin resides and it will scent your home.
Read this tip on one of the pages at the Farmers Almanac but I cannot find the page, so I don't have a link to provide. But I'm going to give this a try.
