I don't think I've EVER EVER worn anything, newly acquired especially, before washing them.  My Mom always said "who wants to wear other people's germs"?  She was so right even back in the 50's.  The mere fact that other people handle clothes, much less trying them on, is enough to make me dizzy at the thought of not washing them before wearing them.

But then, some people are just lazy.  My DIL, for instance.  She buys something new or even used for my grandkids and puts it on them for school without ever washing them - heck sometimes the tags are still on them.  Incredible laziness, for sure.
