These sound very much like cookies made by a friend's mother many years ago when I was a child. I loved them and now I'm going to try to make them. Over the years, I've never found a recipe that actually sounded like those childhood cookies - - this might be the one!
** Taste of Home Magazine has sooooooooo many delicious recipes online as well as in their printed cookbooks. Sometimes they even put a recipe or three in their magazine! Subscribe to their online recipes for many, many ideas of all kinds. You won't be sorry. One caveat: they use a lot of canola oil (must be one of their sponsors) but I don't ever touch that crap, so I always always always substitute real, organic butter anytime an "oil or shortening" is called for. You do whatever you want, though.
