Get rid of weeds and unwanted grass

This is an idea that has merit in many ways, but the best one I can think of is that it's not a spray that ends up killing stuff you don't want killed, it doesn't drift into the neighbor's yard and kill their stuff, it won't end up in your lungs doing damage and it's helpful to the soil, not deadly.  It also encourages the growth and propagation of earthworms and we all need those in our yards.

We did this in a smallish area in our backyard recently and the hardest part was finding heavy things to hold down the cardboard and keep it in place.  Yesterday we had 45 - 60 mph winds and if it weren't for the fact that we have an 8 foot wooden fence back there, the cardboard would have become airborne and ended up heaven knows where!

We are now on the hunt for semi-large rocks, pavers, etc. to hold down the cardboard.  It just so happened we had one box that was quite good sized because we installed a new toilet a few weeks ago, but now we're also looking for more boxes.  Might have to go to U-Haul and buy some!
