My favorite way to make apple crisp, like my Mom's.  She should have called this Mom's apple crisp, or gramma's apple crisp.  That's how I always keep it singled out because I HATE apple crisp with oatmeal in it.  YUK!  I'm not big on oatmeal being added to anything, frankly, except a BOWL OF OATMEAL.  Otherwise, I have no use for the stuff.

At my house we called it campfire apple crisp, it was that easy to make and not much stuff to bring along to the campsite.  I would put the dry ingredients into a ziplock bag, take the wet ingredients in the cooler (milk, eggs, butter etc) and made sure I had the right pan and a spatula with me.  I sometimes used buttermilk in place of the milk because it gave a better moisture content.
