Sauerkraut & polish sausage rings (crock pot)

https://whiskfulcooking.com/easy-slow-cooker-sausage-and-sauerkraut/

I don't know why they mix crock pot and slow cooker together all the time.  To me they're the same thing - what about you?  I know the difference between a crock pot and a stew pot (they have another name but I can't think of it right now).  I usually buy the Staub brand stove top cooking pots and use them when I make big batches of soup and stuff like that, or big batch barbques (sandwiches).  We grew up calling them barbeques *just ground beef, onion, tomato sauce and a squirt of ketsup and mustard" my Mom made the best ones, of course.  We had a small drive-in where I grew up and they for sure had the worlds best BBQ's eaten on a hamburger bun!  There is NO WHERE that sells them now.

***  I would love to find the recipe to make the pizza burgers I grew up eating from Dean's Drive In when I was in high school and for about 4 years after, then they shuttered their doors because their cook moved.  We kids were broken hearted and never have tasted a DeMac Pizza Burger like those ever again.  I have looked online to try to figure out if they are sold ANYWHERE but so far have had no luck.

Re: Sauerkraut & polish sausage rings (crock pot)

Seems like my Mom always added a dash of tabasco sauce and a dash of worchestershire sauce to hers.  That might be the difference between hers and the way I make them - - I'll have to try that.

I also was at a bar in Milbank, SD, where the BBQ's were made with only mustard and onions (carmelized I guess) but those were absolutely delicious.  I have tried to copy them but it's not the same.  I think it has to do with, again, the amount of time you let the whole thing simmer.  Not sure but that's all I can think of.

I have quite a few things I want to try when the 4th is over and we women can relax a little bit about FOOD.  I love the 4th but it's always a lot of work.  Potato salad, cukes in sour cream, desserts, drinks, it never ends!
