Fast food joint past history & current stuff

I'm a fan of Culvers because I like their burgers, I like their Reuben sandwiches, I like their sourdough hamburgers with fried onions (YUM) and I love their root beer.  My grands usually order root beer floats, and I love culvers custard ice cream but when I want a glass of root beer I want it plain, no ice cream.  On a hot afternoon I sometimes indulge in a root beer float but not often.

****  If you continue to scroll down this list it will take you to several fast food places.  They even touch on the subject of what was once my favorite fast food choice, which was a Taco Bell taco lite.  It was just a regular taco with a very thin shell and it was tasty and easier to eat than those damned thick crunchy hard shells they use now.  I hate them.  I prefer the corn shells but the flour tortillas are fine, too.  Just go ahead and scroll through that list.  When I lived in LA in the mid 60's I remember my Mom taking me to a Jack in the box and that was a really good taco (first one I ever had) and we also used to go to a local little drive in called Mom's.  I remember the IHOP's out there when they were just getting started.  GOOD food back then, AWFUL FOOD NOW.  I've never tasted In and Out or Chick fil A although I just found a recipe online for the copycat version of the Chick Fil A sauce which I'm going to try real soon.  When I missed the bus at night after school, I'd walk along Foothill Blvd and stop at the Taste-T-Freeze and get a twist cone and a sweet roll.  My school, however, served the BEST sweet rolls I've ever had and never been able to match for flavor and texture since that time.  Makes my mouth water when I think about them.

My all time favorite sandwich is a Hardee's hot ham and cheese.  I can't get them now because I don't see well enough to drive to that side of town.  I can't find anyone who will take me over there so I do without.  They had good fries and great blueberry muffins, too, if I remember right.  Ah well.  It's probably not in my budget either.

But you'll recognize a lot of the names on that list as you keep scrolling down.  ENJOY a trip down memory lane.  Many of these places are still around but they are now horribly expensive and the food tastes like shit on a shingle.

Do you remember any of these?

https://www.westernjournal.com/mcdonalds-brings-back-everyones-favorite-sandwich-time-running/

That was certainly not MY favorite sandwich from McDonald's.  At one time several years ago they had a
burger called the Big and Tasty.  Man that was a good burger (we always suspected it might have been a plant based thing but who knows), McDonald's has tried some pretty weird stuff over the years.

I also loved their strawberry/vanilla stuffed dough thingy's (I can't think of what they were called right off the bat now).  For a while they had Cherry/sour cream ones and then apple cinnamon (which I detested because they used canned apple pie filling).  They don't serve any of that anymore.  They never have a decent dessert choice.

I still like the occasional Big Mac but it goes against my grain to drive all the way down there for one of those "oatmeal burgers".  I'm certain they use oatmeal or some sort of cereal as a filler to help "extend" the meat because it sure as hell isn't real meat.

My grands love to go there for the fries, so they order a Happy Meal with extra fries instead of yogurt and then they like me to take them to the park right across the street so they can play on the equipment after we eat, while I drink my coffee (McD's has great coffee, just plain black coffee).
