Packs of lies most of us didn't buy into at the time, but were left with nothing to do about stopping it.  It is startling how quickly our gubmint changed their attitude towards Saddam Hussein.  Within two short years he went from not too bad, to being horrible, according to the "news" we all got at the time.  Pure propaganda, of course.  As usual.
