How is this good?

If amazon is putting all these brick and mortar stores out of business, how is that a good thing?  People are losing jobs, there are now tons of empty buildings setting around with no future at all, and a cascade of other things will be effected (reators, insurance companies, just to name a couple).

I like amazon but I've stopped shopping there so often and I try to get to the actual stores as much as possible.  Toys R Us just bit the dust today (officially closed this date).  Many stores have preceded them, too, and there are many more to come, I'm afraid.  I feel that we've supported Jeff Bezos into billionairdom for about long enough and we need to start supporting our local businesses and other community stores.  The economy will be in big trouble if we don't because just a few MONSTROUSLY LARGE companies will own the whole shebang.  Somehow, I don't like the sound of that.  I don't want a corporate world where we have no choices but that's exactly where we're headed.
